On July 1st, twenty-eight years ago, I took a leap of faith and founded 4-Legged Kids, Inc. in St. Louis. As I reflect on this milestone, I’m filled with gratitude and awe for this journey. What began as a simple solution for pet lovers in St. Louis has grown into something far greater! Let’s celebrate 4-Legged Kids, Inc.’s 28 years of service to the St. Louis community!

Celebrating 28 Years of 4-Legged Kids, Inc. in St. Louis

Back in 1997, pet care in St. Louis looked very different. There weren’t many options for in-home care back then. I saw firsthand how stressful it was for families to leave their beloved pets behind when life called them away. Seeing their struggles, I believed our community deserved better. I wanted to build a service that was rooted in compassion, reliability, and professionalism, a place where pets would be cared for as if they were our own.

With a background in veterinary medicine, having worked as a vet tech for years, I was never comfortable with the idea of a friend or neighbor caring for pets – especially those with medical and special needs.

Providing the Best for St. Louis Pets & Their Families

From the very first day, my mission was clear: to provide peace of mind for pet parents and a loving, safe experience for every animal entrusted to us. Over the years, I’ve watched our team grow, not just in numbers but in heart. Every person who joins 4-Legged Kids shares the same passion I do for animal welfare. We’ve celebrated puppy milestones, comforted seniors, and even weathered storms – literal and figurative – together.

One of my proudest achievements is how we’ve embraced innovation while staying true to our core values. We’ve adopted technology to make scheduling and communication easier for our clients, but we’ve never lost sight of the personal touch that sets us apart. Our team members take the time to learn each pet’s quirks and preferences, ensuring every visit is tailored to their unique needs. As a leader in the industry, I am an advocate for the use of technology as a way to keep us accurate, accountable, and connected, while providing exceptional care and peace of mind.

Supporting Animal Welfare In & Around St. Louis

Giving back has always been a cornerstone of our business. Over the years, we’ve partnered with local rescues, supported adoption events, and donated much-needed meals to animal welfare organizations. It’s been humbling to see the ripple effect our efforts have had—helping pets find forever homes and supporting families during difficult times.

This year, our giving goes deeper than the welfare of animals. Our giving focus for 2025 – our 28th year in business – supports Dogs for Our Brave, an organization that serves both pets and people. DFOB is dedicated to providing professionally trained service dogs to wounded veterans at no cost. Our choice to support DFOB is particularly poignant due to both of my daughters’ military deployments. Through this partnership, we honor the profound impact dogs can have on human lives and vice versa.
